We have the proven ways to help your skin and we recommend you start them…immediately.

We all know that as you age, fine lines and wrinkles begin to form and your skin loses its smoothness and elasticity.  Those years of sun exposure also cause changes in your complexion. Such a bummer, right? Luckily there are ways to help reverse these effects and protect your skin.

So, listen up. These are the “must haves” based on FFA recommendations.

Retinol

What is it?

Retinol is a specific form of vitamin A that is naturally produced in your body. When it’s applied topically, enzymes in your skin convert retinol into retinaldehyde and then into retinoic acid. Because of the two-step conversion that it has to undergo before the skin can use it, retinol is a naturally gentle; this means that while its results are slower, it has fewer side effects. The conversion into retinoic acid can take at least a few weeks, which is why you should use retinol products consistently for a few months before expecting to see results.

What does it do?

It stimulates the production of new skin cells. It also help to fade dark spots resulting from photo-aging, hyperpigmentation, hormonal changes, and blemish scars. Prescription-strength retinoids renew the skin and treat acne, reduces appearance of fine lines, and helps with skin discoloration.

Retina-A

What is it?

Retin-A is only available by prescription. It is mainly prescribed as an acne treatment, at concentration levels ranging from 0.01 to 0.1 percent, depending on your skin type. Retin-A is much stronger than retinol, and also has a direct effect as a skin treatment.

What does it do?

By providing a light chemical peel, Retin-A helps speed up the natural exfoliation process and enhance collagen production. It improves skin texture, including diminished wrinkles and brown spots. It is also confirmed to help with anti-aging effects.

Sunscreen

What should I be using?

Everyone should look for a sunscreen with broad-spectrum coverage (which protects against both UVB rays that cause burning and UVA rays that cause lasting damage) and an SPF of 30 or higher.
