Microneedling for Acne Scars and Skin Rejuvenation
These days, skin care is complicated. There are thousands of brands, products and procedures, and everyone seems to have a different opinion on the best way to use them. And because everyone’s skin is different, they can all be right and wrong at the same time.
One treatment that’s FDA-approved to treat acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, wrinkles and skin texture is microneedling, also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy. Because it targets so many skin conditions, it’s helpful for anyone with skin.

How Microneedling Facials Work
Microneedling, as the name suggests, uses a bunch of small, sterile needles to puncture the skin. At first, this may seem counterproductive to smoothing skin and reducing scars. However, the physical trauma caused by these needles stimulates the derma, a deep layer of the skin, to generate collagen and rebuild its surface. The derma will create fresh new cells and promote faster turnover, leading to a quicker healing process for old scars and stretch marks.

Before we break out the needles, we’ll ensure you understand everything your appointment will entail. A Certified Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner will discuss your microneedling treatment plan and determine a starting point for how many treatments you’ll need.

Once we’re ready to start, we’ll apply a numbing cream to any areas we’re microneedling so that you can stay as comfortable as possible. Because the needles are so small, the procedure is not particularly painful, but you’ll feel much better when you’re numbed.
How Many Microneedling Treatments Do You Need?
With microneedling, you will see better results the longer you use it. You can safely get microneedling treatments about every four to six weeks, when the full effects from the previous treatment have formed. For collagen induction and combatting acne scars and wrinkles, about three treatments is a good start. If you’re looking for treatment for scars and hyperpigmentation, results can take a bit longer, so we recommend starting with three to six treatments.
The effects of microneedling are not permanent, so we also recommend you schedule maintenance appointments about once every three months.

Procedure takes about 30 minutes & you can go back to your normal activities right after. We recommend avoiding pools, hot tubs, workouts and touching your face.

Treatment leverages a microneedling device causing minimal to no pain.

Individual results may vary, but most start to see visible improvement in their skin within a week.

Expect to maintain treatment around every 4 to 6 weeks.
