Top skin beauty secrets

This first tip may be a no-brainer, but seems to be forgotten more often than it ought to be – moisturizing. It is a critical step in the journey to healthy, glowing, and youthful looking skin. Our skin may seem thick, but it is an easy target for damage.

Everyday pollutants, the sun’s damaging and drying effects, dust, and dirt are all enemies of our ideal skin.

The skin on our faces is especially susceptible as it is thinner and more prominent than other portions of our bodies. Luckily there are plenty of excellent options on the market for dry, combination, and oily skin types to get the right balance of moisture to rejuvenate our precious epidermis and give us that healthy radiance we so desire.

You may be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of SPF.

Although, it is entirely possible that you haven’t heard the reasons it is so important for your skin (particularly your face). It is easy to assume that your moisturizer (see tip #1) and make-up have enough SPF power in them to fight the anti-aging, wrinkle creating, and overall damage from the sun and other elements – but the fact is, it isn’t.

The SPF found in moisturizers and make-up is often a low amount and is combined with chemicals, fats, dyes and other ingredients that may render the benefits of the SPF ineffective.

The added benefits of using this type of product is to reduce the possibility of getting skin cancer, reduce and prevent dark spots, and prolong the aging process. There are many different types of sunscreen to choose from, but the more research you do based on your own skin type and protection preferences, the better – so long as you actually choose one!

Although there are arguments made to suggest that this next tip can be damaging, there are a number of important reasons to follow it. The tip is gentle exfoliation – the critical word being gentle.

Exfoliation of the skin is important for riding the top layer of the skin of dirt, oils, and dead skin in order to expose the newer, clean, more youthful skin hiding beneath.

Using a gentle exfoliant on the face and neck is particularly recommended as the kin on our faces is more exposed to the elements than other areas of our bodies. Gently exfoliating several times per week, followed by a moisturizer and SPF can do wonders for protecting and beautifying the skin on your face and body with results that will last you the rest of your life.
