What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive method to treat various skin conditions. The technique involves using sterilized, fine and short needles to puncture the skin at a surface-level depth. Your body naturally reacts to heal the pinpricks and rebuild the affected areas, resulting in a more radiant, plump skin texture and youthful appearance.

The facial treatment can help address many skin-related concerns, such as:

  • Acne
  • Scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Rosacea
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Pigmentation issues

While the effects of microneedling can last for months, they are not permanent. Engaging in a regular microneedling maintenance treatment plan can help you keep your skin looking its best.

How Microneedling Works

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. When the needles prick your skin, it stimulates an inflammatory response. Such reaction leads to collagen production and helps generate new skin tissue. As your skin heals, the new tissue provides a more even tone and texture. Encouraging the growth of collagen-rich skin also helps make your skin tighter and firmer.

Professional microneedling is the best way to ensure your treatment delivers the intended results. You can receive regular microneedling treatments every four to six weeks, depending on your desired corrections and when you start seeing results. Your skin condition at the time of your first treatment will also affect how long it will take to see improvements. Some patients may begin seeing visible effects of microneedling after two to three weeks, while others may see them after four to six weeks.

The number of treatments you’ll need will also vary based on your skin concerns and what concerns you want to target. Microneedling facial plans targeting scarring may require more sessions than those targeting collagen induction.

Benefits of Microneedling Facials

As the popularity of microneedling continues to rise, people are learning more about the procedure’s benefits. While microneedling helps plump and rejuvenate skin, it also offers other advantages, like:

  • Reducing the appearance of scars.
  • Minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
  • Diminishing hyperpigmentation or dark spots.
  • Improving skin elasticity.
  • Smoothing uneven skin tones.

You can carry the benefits of microneedling further by maintaining your skin care routine between sessions with medical grade skin care.  At Face Forward Aesthetics we promote ZO Skin Health.
